Happy N95 Day!

Welcome to year two of this NIOSH-approved observance, marking N95 day
as an official annual event. (We debated about decorating our offices
with N95s – but that seemed a tad wasteful). To those who missed the
memo last year, let us update you. Because N95 respirators are so
important to the health and safety of workers in so many different
industries, and because there is more to know about this personal
protective device than just when to slap one on, we have dedicated a day
to the promotion, celebration, dissemination, and proclamation of N95
information.

OSHA 10-Hour In Construction Course, Medford, NY, September 4 and 11, 2013

Save the Date! The OSHA 10-Hour In Construction Course, Medford, NY, September 4 and 11, 2013.

To aid in your compliance with the various Federal, State and City
regulations requiring this training, the LSM safety department is once
again offering the OSHA 10 Hour Course.
The course is provided by our OSHA certified instructors. Each employee
who successfully completes the program will receive a certification card
from OSHA.

Pre-registration is required. Please see attached brochure. There is now a $5 processing fee for each card issued.

Important Information on Preventing Heat Illness

We are all experiencing a very long and hot
heat wave right now. We have attached information that will aid you in
ensuring your employees are kept safe during this time. You can print
and discuss the information with your employees and you can make copies for them. Or you can post the information for all to see.

New NIOSH Smart Phone App Addresses Ladder Safety

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)
announces the availability of a new Ladder Safety smart phone
application (app). This new app uses visual and audio signals to make it
easier for workers using extension ladders to check the angle the
ladder is positioned at, as well as access useful tips for using
extension ladders safely.

When cement comes into contact with skin, the
skin becomes hard thick and dry. It’s more than likely to cause the
exposed area to crack, it can also cause nails to become brittle and
inflame eyelids.
